Kids Business Plan Template

A business plan sounds fancy, but for kids it is really just answering a few important questions before you start selling. Writing it down helps you think clearly, avoid mistakes, and explain your business to others. Here is a simple template any kid can use.

1

Section 1: What Am I Selling?

Describe your product or service in one or two sentences. What is it? Why would someone want it? Be specific: not just 'bracelets' but 'custom beaded name bracelets in any color.' The clearer your description, the easier it is to sell.

2

Section 2: Who Will Buy It?

Who is your customer? Kids at school, parents looking for gifts, neighbors, people online? Write down 3 types of people who would want your product. Knowing your customer helps you decide where to sell and how to market.

3

Section 3: How Much Does It Cost to Make?

List every supply you need and its cost. Beads: $5 for 100 (5 cents each). String: $2 for a roll (makes 50 bracelets, 4 cents each). Total per bracelet: $0.09. Knowing your cost per item is the foundation of smart pricing.

4

Section 4: How Much Will I Charge?

Your price should be at least 2-3 times your cost. If a bracelet costs $0.09 to make, charging $3-5 is reasonable. Research what similar products sell for. Do not underprice because you are young. If your product is good, people will pay a fair price.

5

Section 5: How Will People Find Me?

Write down 3 ways you will get customers. Examples: set up a table at a family event, post photos on a parent's social media, list products in an online shop, hand out flyers at school, ask satisfied customers to tell friends.

6

Section 6: My Goals

Set a goal for your first month: sell 20 bracelets, earn $50, get 5 repeat customers. Goals give you something to work toward. After your first month, look at your results and set new goals. A business plan is a living document that grows with you.
